đ Economist Alex KrĂŒger believes Bitcoin is not yet fully âpriced inâ until President Donald Trump announces his nominee to replace Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.
Currently, markets are betting on a September rate cut, which is already seen as bullish for $BTC. However, the real breakout catalyst could come from Trumpâs pickâespecially if itâs a more dovish figure signaling looser monetary policy.
Powellâs term officially ends in May 2026, but Trump has already begun floating potential successors. CNBC reports as many as 11 candidates under consideration, including David Zervos (Jefferies), Rick Rieder (BlackRock), and former Fed governor Larry Lindsey. Some sources suggest the shortlist has already narrowed to 3â4 names.
The relationship between Trump and Powell has been tense for years. In April, Trump even declared: âPowellâs termination cannot come fast enough!â If Fed leadership changes, Bitcoin could be repriced rapidly by the market.
According to the CME FedWatch Tool, 83.9% of traders expect a rate cut at the Sept. 17 meeting. Coinbaseâs David Duong added that significant retail capital currently sitting in money market funds could flow into crypto once Fed easing begins. đ #Bitcoin Fed #Markets
