Have you ever wondered how blockchain architecture is structured? I recently delved into this topic and realized that there is a whole hierarchy of levels working together. Today, I want to share my understanding of this structure.
So, blockchain levels are essentially a classification of different blockchain technologies. Each level has its own characteristics: scalability, security, accessibility. Think of it as a multi-story building, where each floor is built upon the previous one and adds new capabilities.
Let's start with the foundation—the L0 level. This is the basic infrastructure, which is essentially the blockchain with transactions. At L0, everything is straightforward: interconnected blocks, each containing a series of operations. L0 ensures data integrity and security. Without this foundation, there would be no other levels.
Interestingly, L0 is not just the base—it also enables different L1 blockchains to interact with each other. Essentially, it acts as a bridge through which assets are transferred between different ecosystems.
Let's look at some specific examples. Polkadot (DOT) is one of the prominent L0 representatives. Its relay chain allows developers to launch their own blockchains called parachains. Currently, DOT is trading at around $1.24 with a market cap of $2.07 billion. An interesting project for those who believe in inter-chain interaction.
Avalanche (AVAX) is an open blockchain focused on DeFi applications. The platform is actively developing, and at the time of writing, AVAX is priced at $8.89 with a market cap of $3.84 billion. It’s clear that the community continues to believe in its potential.
And of course, Cosmos (ATOM) is an entire ecosystem for creating independent blockchains. Developers can build autonomous networks for specific applications that easily connect into a unified system. Currently, ATOM shows interesting dynamics—price at $1.71 with a market cap of $859.44 million and a daily growth of +1.29%.
So, if you want to understand how modern blockchain architecture works, start with L0. It’s the foundation upon which the entire ecosystem is built. On Gate.io, you can track the movement of these assets and better understand the development trends in this area.
