The US-China AI competition is intensifying, and choosing sides is more important than funding. Since then, both DeepSeek and Zhipu have backgrounds rooted in the state. After the Manus controversy, the AI industry has been defined as a national strategic asset. You see which side they are on now.

Zhipu has already gathered state-owned capital from Beijing, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Zhuhai, and Shanghai. Once the news of DeepSeek's funding broke, whether it's a smokescreen or not, state-owned capital had to invest.
The same script has also played out in new energy vehicles: in 2020, Hefei invested 7 billion yuan to rescue NIO, and in 2020, Guangzhou's state-owned capital invested 4 billion yuan in XPeng. It's just that new energy is like a helping hand in times of need, while AI models are the finishing touch.
