OpenAI announces collaboration with AMD, NVIDIA, and others to launch the open network protocol MRC, improving AI training efficiency and reducing GPU waste
AIMPACT News, May 6 (UTC+8), OpenAI announced a partnership with AMD, Broadcom, Intel, Microsoft, and NVIDIA to launch a new open network protocol called MRC (Multipath Reliable Connection). OpenAI stated that this protocol can help large-scale AI training clusters operate faster and more stably, while reducing GPU resource waste. Currently, MRC has been deployed on all of OpenAI’s large supercomputers used for training cutting-edge models, including its facilities with Oracle OCI in Abilene, Texas, and the Microsoft Fairwater supercomputer. Additionally, MRC has been made available for industry use and development through the Open Compute Project. (Source: BlockBeats)
