Abstract generation in progress

On November 2, according to CoinDesk, FTX founder SBF's appeal hearing is scheduled for November 4, two years after he was sentenced to 25 years in prison. The hearing on November 4 will allocate 10 minutes of statement time for each side. One side is represented by the New York Southern District prosecutor's team led by former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton, while the other side is led by senior appellate attorney Alexandra Shapiro, representing SBF's new defense team. During the proceedings, the panel judges may ask questions to clarify details. This hearing will not re-examine the charges themselves but will focus on whether the trial process was proper. According to the opening statement submitted by the defense in September 2024, SBF, as the appellant, hopes to obtain a new trial presided over by a new judge. His team believes that the presiding district judge Lewis Kaplan exhibited bias against SBF and made unfair comments during the trial, damaging the defense's case.
