My Blue Lobster Farming Diary -- Testing News Skills
Today with some free time, I decided to tease around with the "Blue Lobster" and test out news-related skills. First, I opened the Gate Skills Hub homepage and typed gate-news in the search box. The page immediately matched a list of Skills related to news. I selected the bbc-news and gate-news series functions for testing.
👉1.bbc-news
Step One: After selecting bbc-news, I entered the plugin details page and immediately saw very detailed Chinese introductions for the Skills, including feature summaries and the last update time. Previously there were complaints that Skills weren't localized, but now it's been completed quickly - this thoughtful operation definitely deserves a thumbs up.
Step Two: The installation method is very simple. The installation code has been completely transformed into natural language instructions, which is a characteristic feature of Gate Skills Hub. It provides a one-click visual deployment method on the web interface, requiring no coding at all. Users only need to perform simple operations on the webpage to complete deployment, greatly lowering the barrier to entry. Depending on whether you're deploying through code yourself or having the AI Agent deploy automatically, select either "I am Human" or "I am AI Agent" respectively.
Step Three: Copy the installation command to the AI Agent chat box and execute it. The AI Agent automatically completes the installation. I encountered one issue during this installation - I had already uninstalled Python, and my GateClaw didn't have admin privileges to install system-level Python, which caused one module to fail installation. Just when I was panicking and didn't know what to do, the Blue Lobster immediately started solving the problem on its own and bypassed the issue by creating a Python script in less than half a minute. I have to say GateClaw is truly powerful.
Step Four: Testing. Many friends say they don't know how to use Skills after installation. Actually, if you carefully read the prompts after installation, you can find the code instructions you can use (see Figure 3). If that still doesn't work, you can simply tell GateClaw your needs using clear natural language, like: "Get me the latest BBC news today" and it will automatically match and execute the instruction for you (see Figure 4).
👉2.Gate-news
Step One: Search gate-news on the homepage, and in the filtered results, select any gate-news-xxx plugin to install all gate-news related Skills.
Step Two: Again, it's the familiar choice of "I am AI Agent", copy the natural language installation command to GateClaw, and one-click automated installation. This installation went smoothly. In the installation results feedback from GateClaw, you can see the related instructions for triggering and activating the Skills.
Step Three: Testing. I entered my question "Why did BTC surge yesterday", and the Blue Lobster started calling gate-news-eventexplain and generated a report for me, including BTC price fluctuations, major events related to BTC yesterday, on-chain capital monitoring results, and AI analysis results combining events and prices. It's amazing (see Figure 6)!
👉Thoughts and Minor Issues:
1. Many friends say they don't know how to use Gate Skills Hub, or after installing Skills they don't know how to use them. Actually, you just need to carefully read the Skills instructions in the AI feedback after installation. If you really don't understand, just ask GateClaw directly in natural plain language, or let it directly help you execute commands in plain language. OpenClaw has brought us into an era where we can treat AI as another version of ourselves. You can directly treat the AI Agent as an all-knowing friend of yours. If you have questions, ask it more. Don't have code phobia or think you must know how to code to master the "lobster", especially a "people-friendly lobster" like GateClaw with one-click deployment.
2. Gate Skills Hub now encompasses 10,000+ Skills, expanded a hundredfold from the hundreds of Skills when testing first started. You can find everything from Gate's official Skills to popular Skills from other AI Agent stores like OpenClaw, as well as many Skills uploaded by users themselves. This has greatly expanded Gate's business positioning in the AI sector, from the initial "coin trading AI tool + simple office AI tool" to "24-hour comprehensive life service AI tool". Even my daily need to watch BBC news can be satisfied. Perhaps Gate's future in the AI sector is not just in finance, but will become a rising star in the entire AI industry. Of course, the increase in Skills will also bring challenges in security and risk control. I hope the platform can handle these well.
3. Finally, let me mention a minor issue. The first time I used GateClaw, I configured an MCP server for it, but when I called the gate-news Skills today, the Blue Lobster still prompted me to install the MCP server. What's the reason for this? Does the lobster really only have a 7-second memory? For those who know, please leave a comment below and tell the little God of Fortune. Wishing everyone prosperity every day!
Anyway, thanks to the test reviewer! This round of actual testing with BBC news and market analysis is really satisfying~Skills went through the roof, looks like my "claw power" is about to level up again, from trading coins to reading news, one-stop service. Next time I forget how to use it, please continue to "hit" me with plain language, I've got a hard shell and I'm durable! 😄
