The year the ancient whale wallet awakens, transferring 250 Bitcoin
Old Bitcoin wallets continue to operate as BTC prices approach historical highs. In the past 24 hours, five wallets from 2010 have transferred a total of 250 BTC, worth over 29 million USD. These wallets may belong to the same person, as the coins have been consolidated into two new addresses. All of this BTC was block reward received in April 2010 – a time when Satoshi Nakamoto was still active.
Despite the small amount of coin, the movement from inactive wallets shows that these old BTC still have value, especially for corporate treasuries. Some miners are taking profits at high prices, as both the hashrate and mining difficulty are near record levels. The BTC reserves of miners have decreased from 1.9 million to 1.8 million BTC. This trend may be related to mining companies redirecting their investments towards AI data centers.
