Trump urges the Supreme Court to expedite its decision on the global tariff case, stating that tariffs are vital for the United States.
On September 3, local time Tuesday, U.S. President Trump stated to reporters in the Oval Office of the White House that his administration would request the Supreme Court to expedite a ruling on the global tariff case, aiming to overturn a federal court's decision deeming several of his tariffs illegal. He emphasized the critical importance of maintaining the current trade policy. Trump mentioned that his administration would file an appeal to the Supreme Court as soon as Wednesday local time, warning that if the earlier appellate court's ruling took effect, "it would be a devastating blow to our country."
He stated: "We will request the Supreme Court to expedite the ruling, we need to obtain a judgment as soon as possible." Trump claimed: "The stock market is falling precisely because the market needs tariff measures; they are eager for tariffs." However, market analysts believe that the primary reasons for the stock market decline are corporate bond issuance and budget concerns in developed countries.
