As the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) Meeting on September 16 approaches, the final list of decision-making members has been determined. This meeting is highly anticipated not only because of the addition of new members but also due to the resolution of some political controversies.

Stephen M. Milan was successfully nominated and approved by the Senate with a narrow margin of 48:47 to serve as a Federal Reserve Board member. Milan previously served in the Trump administration and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University. His appointment broke the conventional nomination process, completing a review that typically takes months in just 6 weeks.

Another member who has garnered attention is Lisa Cook. Trump attempted to fire her on the grounds of 'mortgage fraud,' but this request was dismissed by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Cook will continue to participate in this week's meeting, despite the Trump administration's plans to appeal to the Supreme Court. Cook is considered a 'dovish' member and has publicly criticized Trump's tariff policy.

Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will also participate in this meeting. With a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Princeton University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University, Powell's background covers both finance and law.

With the addition of new members and the temporary easing of controversies, the market is paying more attention to the decision-making direction of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) Meeting in September. Considering the current economic situation and the composition of members, the possibility of an interest rate cut seems to be increasing. However, the final decision still awaits the meeting results. We are watching closely how this meeting will impact the U.S. and global economy.
