What is a HODLer? Bitcoin and the HODL Strategy

Abstract generation in progress

A HODLer? That's what they call people in the Bitcoin world who just don't sell. Ever. They keep their cryptocurrency portfolios unchanged. Market goes up? They hold. Bubbles form? Still holding. Someone offers to buy? Nope.

Bitcoin is crazy volatile. It just is. Looking at September 2025, we've seen prices bounce between $116,700 and $125,600. Wild swings. Nothing new there. Bitcoin has always been like this. Since its value comes purely from supply and demand (no central bank involved), many folks cash out when prices skyrocket. Makes sense. Millions in profit is tempting.

But HODLers? They're different. They tune out the noise. Price crashes? Whatever. They wait. They're playing the long game. It seems this approach has become even more relevant lately. The market in 2025 is interesting - analysts think Bitcoin's heading up in Q4. Seasonal patterns suggest it. Not entirely clear if they're right, but the indicators are there.

HODLing isn't trading. Not even close. Traders watch charts all day. HODLers might not check prices for months. Kind of surprising how committed they stay while everything fluctuates around them. The crypto market is growing up in 2025, but the day-to-day roller coaster hasn't stopped. HODLers just shrug and hold on.
