The Most Scandalous NFT Scam: $1.5 Million Disappeared in 48 Hours
What happened?
In January 2022, an adult celebrity launched an NFT project called CryptoSis that raised 1.5 million dollars in less than two days. The numbers are simple: 6,069 NFTs sold for 0.1 ETH each (~$250 at that time). But the story behind it is much darker.
The Unfulfilled Promises
Before the launch, investors were promised:
None of this happened.
The Rug Pull
Instead of delivering what was promised, the creator simply disappeared from the project. Their justification: “the community on Discord was very toxic”. Then they stopped communicating.
The most disturbing thing: among the affected investors were people who invested practically all their savings. One documented case was that of a father with a 2-year-old child who lost almost everything. The creator's response was to mock: “your diapers are very expensive.”
The Pattern Repeats
This case adds to a long list of celebrities who have used their influence to scam their followers in cryptocurrencies and NFTs. The common factor: lack of significant legal consequences.
The Uncomfortable Question
How many more cases do we need to see before regulatory measures become stricter? In the meantime, the industry remains a minefield for retail investors.
