A Veteran's Heartfelt Warning After a Margin Call: Respect the Market, Risk Control First
I also came from that clueless "rookie" stage, stumbling along the way. I still remember initially being blinded by the myth of "hundredfold coins," thinking the crypto world was a gold mine. I poured in all my passion and savings, only to face repeated painful margin calls.
Those glaring loss figures hit me like loud slaps, painfully waking me from the dream of getting rich overnight. I finally realized that in this smoke-free battlefield, the market is the only ruler, and we are pitifully insignificant.
The blood and tears lessons I learned with real money boil down to two words: risk control.
Without risk control, no matter how much you earn, one day you will lose it all due to "strength." Now, as someone who has been through it, I sincerely remind all new friends entering the circle:
1. Staying alive is more important than making quick money: Don’t start with contracts or leverage. High leverage is a double-edged sword; it can make you rich overnight but also wipe you out instantly. Beginners should honestly start with spot trading, learn to "stay alive," and only then talk about the future.
2. Never "all-in": Putting all your eggs in one basket, especially on a turbulent sea, is suicide. Build your positions gradually, control your leverage, and always leave room for adding positions or managing risks.
3. Set stop-losses—they are your only safety net: Before buying, think carefully: if you’re wrong, at what point must you cut losses and exit? No stop-loss, no trading. Don’t let small losses turn into big ones until you can’t bear them.
4. Protect your principal; it’s your life: This is the most important point. Invest only with "idle money" that won’t affect your life if lost. Once you use living expenses or borrow money, your mindset will collapse, your operations will distort, and a margin call is just around the corner.
Opportunities in the crypto world are always there, but once your principal hits zero, it’s game over. Be sure to engrain "risk control" in your mind—respect the market, respect risk. May you avoid the detours I’ve taken.
