#比特币2026年行情展望 Sui Network 6-Hour Chain Split Incident: $1 Billion Assets Frozen, Coin Price Surprisingly Up 4%
$ETH $BTC
Layer-1 public chain Sui experienced a significant incident yesterday. The network outage that occurred Wednesday afternoon directly affected over $1 billion worth of on-chain assets. The entire network was "stuck" from 3:24 PM (UTC) until 8:44 PM, lasting a full 6 hours.
The incident was quite alarming—imagine, $1 billion worth of assets immobilized on the chain, how frustrating that must be. But here’s the twist: the market’s reaction was completely counterintuitive. The SUI token not only didn’t plummet but actually rose against the trend during the incident, climbing 4% and reaching around $1.84 at one point.
Is this a bottom-fishing move "picking up bargains," or is the market signaling something else? This is worth pondering.
It’s also noteworthy that this is the second major outage since Sui’s mainnet launched last May— the first was in November 2024. Comparing with Solana next door, although that chain has also experienced outages before, it has not had any network stalls in the past 18 months. This comparison shows that Sui’s network stability still has room for improvement.
Network security directly concerns the safety of assets, and there’s no doubt about that. The outage was fully recovered without incident, but what if it hadn’t? That scenario is truly frightening. What’s your take on this? Share your thoughts in the comments.
