Figure has just launched the OPEN platform, enabling native on-chain stock trading functionality. This achievement is supported by BitGo and Jump Trading, both industry heavyweight players. More notably, this system bypasses the traditional DTCC clearing mechanism.
Even more impressive, Figure has become the first company to list stocks on Provenance Blockchain. What does this mean? Stock trading is officially moving on-chain, breaking the monopoly of traditional financial infrastructure. From DEX to on-chain futures, and now to stock trading, blockchain is gradually encroaching on the territory of traditional finance.
Although Provenance Blockchain is not as well-known as Ethereum or Solana, this move by Figure undoubtedly brings it increased attention. Will it become the mainstream platform for on-chain stock trading? We’ll keep watching.
