Daimler Truck Sales Decline 8% in 2025 Amid Market Headwinds
Daimler Truck Holding AG faced challenging market conditions in 2025, with overall truck sales dropping to 422,510 units from 460,409 units in the previous year. This 8% decline reflects broader weakness in the commercial vehicle sector, though the Germany-based manufacturer continued to maintain its competitive position in key markets. The fourth quarter performance was particularly affected, with group deliveries reaching 117,974 units compared to 124,386 units a year earlier.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks Navigation Through Market Turbulence
Despite the group-wide softness, Mercedes-Benz Trucks demonstrated surprising resilience in specific segments. The brand registered unit sales of 159,871 units, nearly flat compared to 159,540 units last year, indicating stable market share defense. More notably, the final quarter showed a significant turnaround, with Mercedes-Benz Trucks posting sales of 48,841 units versus 43,806 units in the same period last year—a meaningful gain that suggests recovery momentum entering 2026.
Electric Vehicle Segment Emerges as Bright Spot
The most striking development in Daimler Truck’s 2025 results was the explosive growth in battery-electric vehicle deliveries. Battery-electric truck and bus sales surged by two-thirds, climbing to 6,726 units from 4,035 units, underscoring accelerating market adoption of zero-emission commercial vehicles. This represents a critical shift in the truck sales landscape, as fleet operators increasingly prioritize electrification to meet emissions regulations. The segment’s growth trajectory suggests that while traditional truck sales face near-term pressure, the group is successfully transitioning toward sustainable mobility solutions.
