Italian Interior Minister: US ICE personnel will not participate in security enforcement for the Milan Winter Olympics

On February 4th, local time, Italian Interior Minister Piantedosi stated in Parliament that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) personnel do not have any law enforcement or on-site security functions during the Milan Winter Olympics. They will not participate in patrols, order maintenance, or police operations. Piantedosi said that the role of ICE personnel is limited to information exchange and technical cooperation, which is non-law enforcement support, not directly facing the public, and not involved in event security deployment. All public safety, order maintenance, and command systems related to the Winter Olympics are entirely managed by Italian national law enforcement agencies. (CCTV News)
