Head of the Treaty and Law Department of the Ministry of Commerce answers questions from reporters regarding the EU's request to the WTO to establish a panel on China-EU trade dispute cases
A reporter asked: We note that the European Union announced on February 12th Geneva time that it will submit a request to establish a panel at the World Trade Organization Dispute Settlement Body regarding its legal judgment in the patent licensing dispute involving standard-essential patents against China. What is China’s comment on this?
Answer: China has repeatedly emphasized that we always attach great importance to intellectual property protection, strictly follow WTO rules and our accession commitments, continuously improve legislation and enforcement related to intellectual property rights, and have achieved visible results. China expresses regret over the EU’s decision.
Regarding the EU’s request, China will handle it properly in accordance with WTO dispute settlement procedures and resolutely safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. (Ministry of Commerce website)
