Visa has launched Visa CLI, the first product from its Visa Crypto Lab, aimed at serving the payments sector for AI agents. This closed beta tool allows agents to pay for external API calls on demand, such as image generation or market data, without the need for pre-configured accounts. At the same time, payment networks like Stripe and Mastercard, as well as cryptocurrency companies like Circle, are developing their own agent-based commerce frameworks, highlighting the differences between traditional trust layers and blockchain-native approaches in autonomous AI transactions.
