Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei issued a statement on Wednesday evening regarding the assassination of Iran’s top national security official, Ali Larijani, stating that the perpetrators will pay the price for this blood debt.

67-year-old Larijani is a close confidant of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his son and successor, Mojtaba. According to Israel, Larijani was killed in an airstrike on Monday evening.

According to semi-official Iranian media outlets Fars News Agency and Tasnim News Agency, Iran will hold funerals on Wednesday for Larijani and Gholamreza Soleimani, leader of the Basij militia organization, who was also killed by Israel on Tuesday.

Additionally, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that Israel’s killing of Larijani will not deal a fatal blow to Iran’s leadership.
