Odaily Planet Daily reports that Visa Crypto Labs has released a command-line tool (CLI) that allows AI agents to initiate secure, automated payments directly in the terminal environment, marking further progress in “AI-native payment” infrastructure.

The tool supports completing payments through text commands without traditional API key management or manual intervention, enabling developers to let bots, scripts, and automation processes directly invoke payment capabilities. Visa states this will significantly reduce the complexity of integrating AI systems with payment services.

Currently, the product is in testing phase, and users can apply for access via their GitHub accounts. Visa notes that as AI agents evolve from “answering questions” to “performing tasks,” including calling APIs, purchasing computing power, and executing machine-to-machine transactions, payment systems also need to upgrade to support automated transactions in command-line environments (Command Line Commerce).

Meanwhile, various industry players are also working on AI payment standards. Coinbase and Cloudflare are advancing the x402 protocol, while Stripe and Tempo have launched the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP). Visa has announced integration of MPP to support card payments across its global network and to complement other AI payment protocols.
