Senior Official Charged with Bribery of Exceptionally Large Amount: Former Deputy Director of National Forestry and Grassland Administration Li Chunliang Indicted

Today (16th), a reporter learned from the Supreme People’s Procuratorate that the case of Li Chunliang, former member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Administration), suspected of accepting bribes and using influence to accept bribes, has been concluded by the National Supervisory Commission and transferred to the procuratorial authorities for review and prosecution. Under the jurisdiction designated by the Supreme People’s Procuratorate, the Shandong Provincial People’s Procuratorate has lawfully decided to arrest Li Chunliang on suspicion of bribery and using influence to accept bribes. Recently, the People’s Procuratorate of Dezhou City, Shandong Province, has filed a public prosecution with the Intermediate People’s Court of Dezhou City.

During the review and prosecution stage, the procuratorial authorities lawfully informed the defendant Li Chunliang of his litigation rights, questioned him, and listened to the opinions of his defense attorneys. The prosecution accuses: Li Chunliang, in his capacity as Director of the Second Department of the Central Organization Department, Deputy Director of the Second Bureau, Inspector, Director of the Fourth Bureau, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the State Forestry and Grassland Administration, and member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Forestry and Grassland Administration (National Park Administration), used the convenience of his positions and the authority or influence associated with his roles to seek benefits for others, illegally accepting a large amount of property from others; after leaving his position, he used the convenience of his former authority or influence, through the actions of other state employees, to seek improper benefits for others, illegally accepting a large amount of property, and should be held criminally responsible for bribery and using influence to accept bribes.
