The Mystery of Nikolai Mushegian: Accident, Suicide, or Conspiracy in Puerto Rico?

The death of Nikolai Mushegian, the renowned co-founder of MakerDAO, remains shrouded in uncertainty nearly four years after the incident. His body was found on October 28, 2022, on Condado Beach in San Juan, raising questions that still lack definitive answers within the cryptocurrency community.

Nikolai Mushegian’s Last Night in Condado

Hours before his body was discovered, Nikolai Mushegian posted a series of alarming accusations on social media. In these messages, he accused international intelligence agencies, including the CIA and Mossad, of orchestrating a supposed human trafficking and extortion network. He also warned about plans to frame him and subject him to torture.

Local authorities initially ruled out any criminal act. The official report stated that the 29-year-old had a small laceration on his skull but no other significant injuries. The area where he was found is known for its turbulent currents and has been the scene of several documented drownings in previous years.

Conflicting Testimonies: Mental Health and Suspicion

Colleagues and friends of Nikolai Mushegian described him as intellectually brilliant but facing challenges related to his mental health. Crypto entrepreneur Brock Pierce was among the first to suggest that his death could have been self-inflicted, based on personal difficulties he was experiencing.

However, this version does not convince everyone. Other members of the crypto community found the circumstances questionable: the timing of his last tweets, the nature of the accusations he made, and how quickly authorities closed the case.

A Legacy Tarnished by Unanswered Questions

Despite the official stance, alternative theories flourish on forums and within the crypto community networks. Many believe the investigations were superficial and that there are too many inconsistent details. Nikolai Mushegian’s death has become a symbol of the tension between the official narrative and community suspicions.

While investigators insist on their conclusions, the true cause of death remains an active debate, reflecting some sectors’ distrust of institutions and the need for greater transparency in investigations involving prominent figures in the crypto world.
