The business, operated by NCR Commerce Japan, provides foreign exchange, loan, call centre, video teller and network technology to local financial institutions.

NTT Data plans to build on the business’s established expertise and integrate it into its global financial IT services portfolio once the deal closes by the end of the year.

For NCR Voyix, the sale is part of a strategy of focusing on its core software and services offerings for restaurants and retailers post its 2023 split with NCR Atleos.

In 2024, it sold its cloud-based digital banking business for $2.45 billion in cash to Veritas Capital.

“This transaction allows NCR Voyix to sharpen our focus on our core retail and restaurant businesses while ensuring the Japan bank technology business is positioned for long‑term success,” says Darren Wilson, EVP, president, retail and payments, NCR Voyix.

Last month, ATM and branch banking vendor NCR Atleos struck a deal to be acquired by cash management giant Brink’s for $6.6 billion.
