Gelonghui March 24 | Mastercard is required to pay merchants related credit card transaction funds after Banco Master in Brazil went bankrupt, involving millions of dollars. Sources say Mastercard provided the payment network for Will Financeira SA, a fintech company under Banco Master, to issue credit cards. After the bank’s liquidation, Mastercard needs to settle amounts with retailers who completed transactions and is currently pursuing the relevant funds through the court-appointed liquidator. It is reported that the unpaid credit card bills at the time of the bank’s collapse totaled up to 5 billion Brazilian reais (approximately $948 million). Mastercard has already covered about half of this amount, specifically the transactions generated within the first 30 days after the bank’s liquidation.
