Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has resigned to the King of Denmark, and the process of forming a new government has begun. Previously, the three-party coalition government led by Frederiksen suffered a heavy defeat in the election.

Denmark recently held parliamentary elections, and the official results showed that Frederiksen’s Social Democrats remained the largest party, but their support has plummeted. The center-left coalition led by the Social Democrats failed to win a majority of seats.

According to regulations, if no party wins a majority, parties will engage in cross-party negotiations to form a new government.

Since the Social Democrats are still Denmark’s largest party with a support rate of 21.9%, it means Frederiksen may become Prime Minister for the third time after coalition negotiations.
