Iran’s Tasnim News Agency reported on Thursday, citing military sources, that if the United States intends to carry out a “suicide mission” to open the Strait of Hormuz, Iran is already prepared and will continue to block the Strait of Hormuz.

The report states that Iran has mobilized over 1 million combat personnel, ready to engage in ground warfare with the U.S. Military. A large number of young Iranians are flocking to recruitment centers of militia groups Basij, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, and the military to apply for combat roles.

The news website Axios quoted U.S. officials and sources as saying that the Pentagon is developing a military plan for a “last strike” against Iran, including invading or blockading Iran’s main oil export hub Kharg Island, attacking the strategic location of Larak Island used by Iran to control the Strait of Hormuz, capturing Abu Musa Island and two smaller islands located near the western entrance of the Strait, which are currently controlled by Iran, and blocking or seizing ships exporting Iranian oil through the eastern exit of the Strait.
