Lenovo issues a price increase notice; some computers see price hikes of over 1,000 yuan

In early 2026, a price hike driven by upstream core components is sweeping through the entire consumer electronics market. Data released by the Price Monitoring Center of the National Development and Reform Commission on February 28 shows that by January 2026, the prices of the two main global storage chips, DRAM (memory) and NAND flash, reached their highest levels since 2016. For example, the mainstream DDR4 8Gb module saw spot prices soar from a low of $3.20 in 2025 to $15, a cumulative increase of 369%. In this context, an insider exclusively revealed to reporters that “Lenovo has issued a price adjustment notice to its channel partners, deciding to raise prices on some of its computer products.” The same source indicated that signs of this price increase had already appeared online earlier this year. “Online, adjustments started before March—either the listed prices were directly increased or previous promotional discounts were withdrawn,” he said. The price adjustment notice mainly targets certain offline retail stores, “We have received the new price list. Compared to last year, the retail prices of some computer models have increased by more than 1,000 yuan.” However, he added that the student purchase subsidy policy remains in effect, so the prices for student buyers have not yet been affected by this price hike.
