A delegation from Russia’s State Duma (the lower house of parliament) wrapped up its two-day visit to the United States on the 27th. That day, members of the delegation, including Svetlana Zhurova, the First Deputy Chair of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, told the media that talks with the U.S. side went well. According to a report by Russia’s “Gazeta.ru” on the 27th, the Russian delegation came at the invitation of U.S. House Representative Anna Paulina Lunna, a Republican. The U.S. delegation consists of five U.S. lawmakers. The Russian State Duma delegation visiting the U.S. also consists of five people. The report said that the Biden administration has halted dialogue between Russia and the United States, and that this Russia-U.S. lawmakers’ meeting “is an attempt by both sides to resume dialogue.” Lunna said that as two nuclear powers, “peace” should come first in all matters between Russia and the United States. According to a report from the Sputnik news agency, after the talks concluded on the 27th, the head of the Russian delegation, Nikonoov, told the media that the two sides broadly discussed issues related to strategic stability, including matters concerning Ukraine.
