People’s Financial News, March 27 - According to the official website of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region People’s Government, on March 26, the regional chairman Wei Tao presided over a special meeting to study key tasks for the 2026 Western Land-Sea New Corridor, deploying high-level joint construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor and high-standard promotion of the Pinglu Canal Economic Belt construction, among other key tasks. Wei Tao emphasized that the construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor is a systematic project that requires all levels and departments of the region to perform their roles and cooperate closely. We must race against time to tackle challenges and make every effort to ensure the completion and navigation of the backbone project of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor - the Pinglu Canal, as well as the “second half of the article.” We need to reverse the construction schedule, focus on project construction, and concentrate on ensuring capacity and organizing cargo from both supply and demand sides, creating an economically vibrant canal belt that is well-connected internally and externally. We will formulate charging policies in accordance with the law and regulations, reduce social logistics costs, and significantly enhance the social awareness and coverage of the canal economic belt. We need to plan and promote comprehensively, consider the overall layout of port, terminal, channel, railway, and other constructions, actively promote the construction of the China-Vietnam cross-border railway, deep-water channels, high-capacity terminal projects, inland river projects, and collection and distribution systems, and comprehensively enhance the capacity of infrastructure such as port hubs.
