In response to the U.S. claim that American companies are seeking to establish ammunition production lines in the Philippines, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated at a regular press conference on the 26th that China has always believed that military security cooperation between countries should not target third parties or harm the interests of third parties, and should not undermine regional peace and stability. The Asia-Pacific region is the most important source of development, prosperity, and stability in the world. The U.S. and its allies should earnestly respect the common aspirations of regional countries and do more to promote peace and stability, rather than introducing group confrontation and conflict into the Asia-Pacific. If relevant countries willingly act as a “powder keg” or “ammunition depot,” it will ultimately backfire on themselves. China will firmly defend its territorial sovereignty and security interests and safeguard its legitimate rights and interests. (Xinhua)
