Suspected suicide bomb attack occurs in northeastern Nigeria, with over a hundred casualties

On the 17th, the Nigerian police issued a statement saying that three explosions occurred in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State in northeastern Nigeria, on the evening of the 16th. At least 23 bodies have been found, and another 108 people have been sent to the hospital for treatment. The Borno State police stated in the announcement that, according to preliminary investigations, suspected suicide bombers detonated improvised explosive devices at the Maiduguri Monday Market, the entrance of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and near the local post office overpass. The police indicated that a joint team composed of security personnel has sealed off and controlled the scene of the incident and has strengthened security measures in the relevant areas.
