On March 26, People’s Finance News reported that the China Coast Guard, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the National Cultural Heritage Administration jointly issued a notice to carry out the “Blue Sea Shield 2026” marine resource and ecological environment protection law enforcement action from March 25 to November 25. The action aims to thoroughly implement the spirit of the national two sessions, adhere to the overall requirements of the national “15th Five-Year Plan” regarding high-quality development of the marine economy and coordinated land-sea management, continuously deepen the “joint construction, joint action, joint management, joint governance” model, further update concepts, optimize forms, and enrich content, and build “Blue Sea Shield” into an important carrier for comprehensive marine governance. It is understood that the “Blue Sea Shield 2026” law enforcement action focuses on nine key areas based on the development trend of China’s marine industry, social concerns, and relevant requirements for marine management policies, including the protection of the ecological environment around uninhabited islands, dynamic changes in coastlines, new key marine project usage, ecological environment protection in key areas, offshore oil exploration and development activities, offshore dumping, marine nature reserves, protection of underwater cables and pipelines, and protection of underwater cultural relics.
