In the face of cross-regional disputes, how can we allow market entities to "run less" and quickly alleviate their worries? Recently, the Xiaodian District People's Court successfully resolved five rental contract disputes involving "one plaintiff and multiple defendants from different provinces" through a one-stop diversified dispute resolution mechanism.

The plaintiff company is engaged in the container leasing business, with clients across multiple provinces. Due to some individual tenants defaulting on rent, the company filed a lawsuit with the Xiaodian District People’s Court. After entering the preliminary mediation process, the mediator assessed that the series of cases posed challenges due to the large geographical span and the time-consuming nature of traditional litigation. To ease the worries of the parties involved and ensure the company could focus on resuming operations, the mediator set the goal of achieving “resolution and harmony” and devoted significant effort to “back-to-back” communication.

For the defendants from various provinces, the mediator patiently listened to their statements, alleviated opposing emotions, and explained legal provisions and breach consequences in simple language; for the plaintiff company, the mediator provided reassurance about their rights while also negotiating whether a grace period could be given based on the defendants’ actual business difficulties. After relentless efforts, the plaintiff company made reasonable concessions on the repayment deadline, and each defendant recognized their mistakes and actively sought funds.

“I didn’t expect the dispute to be resolved so quickly, and we actually received the owed payments. The timely recovery of funds gives us more confidence to operate better in the future!” It is reported that the remaining rental fees for the five cases have all been settled, the disputes resolved, and the parties have reconciled and are happy.

The successful mediation of this cross-regional dispute saved all parties a considerable amount of time and litigation costs, avoiding operational risks that could arise from lengthy litigation processes; more importantly, through the court’s professional mediation, all parties found a balance of interests and emotional resonance within the legal framework, rebuilding mutual trust and leaving room for potential future cooperation.

A high-quality business environment is not only about convenient and efficient services but also about a fair, just, and humanistic legal environment. Moving forward, the Xiaodian District People’s Court will continue to implement the principle of serving the people through justice, continuously improving the quality and efficiency of diversified dispute resolution and judicial execution, and providing higher-quality, efficient, and convenient judicial services to create a stable, fair, transparent, and predictable legal business environment.
