BlackRock climbs fast: "They will be the biggest Bitcoin holder"
BlackRock, which started trading the Bitcoin ETF last Thursday and made a good start in this field, is thought to surpass MicroStrategy as the company that holds the most Bitcoin.
According to a calculation based on current purchase rates, the number of Bitcoins held by BlackRock will surpass MicroStrategy by February 1. That prediction was backed up by Bloomberg's senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, with the exception of the specified date. "I doubt it's going to happen that fast, but I'm sure it's going to happen," Balchunas said.
Among the companies that hold the most Bitcoin, MicroStrategy leads by far. The U.S.-based company has 189,150 BTC on its balance sheet worth over $8 billion. MicroStrategy is followed by mining company Marathon Digital with 13,726 BTC and electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla with 9,720 BTC.
11,439 BTC to the BlackRock fund in two days
BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF saw inflows of 11,439 BTC, worth about $500 million, in just two days. These BTC are held by BlackRock on behalf of the investors who invested in the fund. Investing half a billion dollars in such a short period of time is seen as a major milestone for both BlackRock and the Bitcoin ETF world. It also illustrates the growing interest of institutional investors in Bitcoin.
Fidelity is also very close to BlackRock
Nearly $500 million has been invested in BlackRock's Bitcoin ETF, and Fidelity has come very close. $422 million was transferred to the company's Bitcoin fund, which trades under the ticker FBTC.
