pro reveals! Father of high-frequency trading: Everyone should have Bitcoin, but not more than 10% of net assets
Thomas Peterffy, the founder of Interactive Brokers, known as the 'father of high-frequency trading', said that investors should have some BTC, but their positions should be limited due to the fluctuation of BTC prices.
Thomas Peterffy said in an interview with Bloomberg TV on Wednesday:
I suggest people invest 2% to 3% of their net assets in BTC... For example, we do not allow anyone to invest more than 10% of their assets in BTC, as I think this is very risky.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Thomas Peterffy's net worth is about $53 billion. He said he is 'a little afraid' of cryptocurrencies due to the Bitcoin's price Fluctuation.
Thomas Peterffy said that BTC has "no intrinsic value", and "its only value is the same as US dollar bills, basically nothing."
Interactive Brokers launched cryptocurrency trading in 2021, allowing users to buy and sell BTC (Bitcoin), ETH (Ethereum), LTC (Litecoin), and BCH (Bitcoin Cash), primarily through a partnership with cryptocurrency brokerage firm Paxos Trust.
Thomas Peterffy said, 'I think anyone who doesn't have Bitcoin should own some Bitcoin, but not too much.'
Thomas Peterffy revealed in 2021 that he held some BTC, saying at the time, "The possibility of BTC becoming the dominant currency is very small, so you have to take a gamble."
He also talked about the biggest impact of the Trump administration, which will be less regulation and less intervention in private enterprises. He is "extremely optimistic" about the next four years. However, he also expressed concern about the possibility of market overexpansion for all policies that support economic growth.
Thomas Peterffy said, "At some point in the future, the market will experience a downward trend," "But I don't think it will be a very drastic decline, and it will not last very long."
