FLOKI Reveals Details of First Valhalla Tournament

Floki announced details of its first official tournament for its blockchain game Valhalla, with a $150,000 prize pool. The competition begins with qualifiers on September 30, 2025, and will conclude with a main event on October 4–5. The tournament is structured to test players’ skill, preparation, and strategy, not just in-game spending.

How the Tournament Works

The event is split into two stages: qualifiers and a main event. Players must use Veras — Valhalla’s NFT-based creatures — in tactical battles fought on hex-grid arenas.

  • Qualifiers (Sept. 30):
    • Up to 3 matches per player
    • 1 point per win
    • Top 64 players advance
    • Tie-breakers decided by ELO, damage dealt, and account age
  • Main Event (Oct. 4–5):
    • 64-player single elimination bracket
    • 6 rounds in total
    • Fixed match times with a 15-minute queue grace period

Players must prepare three different Veras for each battle. Matches will follow strict anti-cheating rules, with bans for win-trading, bug exploitation, or use of illegitimate assets.

Prize Distribution

The $150,000 prize pool will be split across 64 finalists, with additional bonus rewards for players who do not qualify.

  • 1st: $50,000
  • 2nd: $20,000
  • 3rd–4th: $10,000 each
  • 5th–8th: $4,000 each
  • 9th–16th: $2,000 each
  • 17th–32nd: $1,000 each
  • 33rd–64th: $400 each

Bonus rewards: The top 500 players who fail to qualify will each receive $10 in FLOKI tokens if they meet engagement criteria, such as following the project’s official channels and sharing their Valhalla username.

Core Gameplay and Strategy

At the heart of Valhalla are Veras, NFT-based digital creatures with unique abilities. Players can train, upgrade, and deploy Veras in turn-based battles. Success depends on strategy as much as raw upgrades.

Players are expected to:

  • Train Veras to unlock stronger abilities
  • Develop tactics for hex-grid combat arenas
  • Adapt to changing strategies mid-match

The system discourages reliance on spending alone. Tactical play and preparation will often outweigh higher-value assets, according to Floki’s tournament outline.

How to Participate

To join, players must access the Combat Hub via an in-game Obelisk. Once inside, they select the tournament mode and queue for matches.

  • Qualifiers: Random matchmaking
  • Main Event: Matches arranged by tournament bracket

Draws are not allowed in the main event. Tie-breakers follow a clear sequence: surviving Veras → total damage → oldest character ID.

Rules and Enforcement

Floki has outlined specific restrictions to keep the competition fair:

  • No win-trading or intentional disconnects
  • No bug exploitation or blockchain tampering
  • No illegitimately obtained assets
  • No unfair play (subject to organizer discretion)

Violations may result in immediate disqualification and removal from the tournament.

From Memecoin to Gaming Ecosystem

Floki, originally launched as a memecoin, has expanded into blockchain gaming in recent years. The Valhalla MMORPG went live on mainnet on June 30, 2025.

Valhalla blends traditional online gameplay with blockchain mechanics, drawing on Norse mythology. Its features include:

  • NFT ownership: Players control Veras, equipment, and other assets on-chain
  • Play-to-earn model: Rewards distributed in FLOKI tokens
  • Tactical combat: Battles use hexagonal arenas and turn-based mechanics
  • Guilds and cooperation: Players can form alliances for shared objectives
  • Decentralized economy: FLOKI tokens enable staking, trading, and in-game purchases

Pedro Vidal, Floki’s Community Relations Officer, has said the project is designed to counter common blockchain gaming issues, such as unstable tokenomics and shallow gameplay loops.

Why This Tournament Matters

The Valhalla Tournament #1 is Floki’s first attempt to formalize competitive play around its blockchain game. By offering regulated prize pools and strict gameplay rules, the team aims to show that Valhalla can compete with established online games while maintaining its blockchain foundation.

This format emphasizes:

  • Fair competition
  • Tactical skill over pay-to-win mechanics
  • Transparent rules backed by blockchain verification

Conclusion

The first Valhalla tournament underscores Floki’s evolution from a memecoin to a serious player in blockchain gaming. With qualifiers starting September 30 and the main event on October 4–5, the $150,000 prize pool offers players not just rewards, but a chance to prove their mastery of Veras and the hex-grid arenas
