Someone recently asked me which major protocol has the worst security that everyone thinks is safe. I’d probably say Solana. Solana’s centralized, & as much as they try to claim it’s decentralized, it’s not. There’s only around 1,300 validators actually securing the network, with multiple validators controlled by the same entities. It’s worse than the optics look. Centralization is generally one of, if not the biggest risk. It’s usually people that end up being the problem, not the code. Decentralization isn’t a binary question - it’s a gradient between fully centralized & fully decentralized. Even Bitcoin, which is as far over on the decentralized side as possible, still isn’t as decentralized as we want it to be. Mining pools own too large a percentage. I hold $SOL. I trade it. But I’d never build critical infrastructure on it.
