Xiao Mo Chief Strategist: The Fed still needs to be more confident in terms long inflation

Marko Kolanovic, chief market strategist at JPMorgan Chase, said that last week’s downside surprise in U.S. GDP data and the upward momentum of inflation are putting pressure on the “soft landing” narrative, which marks the U.S. economy moving towards a “stagflationary direction” compared with market expectations, and Fed Chairman Powell’s comments after the Fed meeting this week suggest that officials need more long confidence that inflation is expected to fall to the 2% target.
