Jinshi data news on July 4th, ECB committee member Centeno said that policy decisions should be “gradual”. Centeno said, “We should choose a path that will not confuse economic agents, and then harm our credibility and decision-making interpretation.” When asked whether the ECB is likely to cut interest rates at the July meeting, he said “all meetings have the possibility of cutting interest rates”. “We have entered a new phase of the monetary policy cycle, and the first interest rate cut has decided the beginning of this process, which is a medium-term process”. “The data supports our view of the interest rate path and the monetary policy cycle, and also confirms that there will be more interest rate cuts in the future. We should always pay attention to the medium-term monetary policy level, rather than focusing too much on the month-to-month situation. This is the case for inflation and interest rates.” Centeno does not believe that the market’s view of interest rate cuts this year is too optimistic.
