Israel Central Bank: Will not launch digital shekel before European Central Bank launches CBDC

Golden Finance reported that Andrew Abir, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Israel, stated that the Central Bank of Israel will not decide whether to launch Central Bank Digital Money (CBDC) before the European Central Bank. A few weeks ago, the Central Bank of Israel announced the launch of the Digital Shekel Challenge as part of a potential action plan for the issuance of digital shekels to develop applications in the payment field, but it also reiterated that it has not done so yet.
