The Real Deal Behind Libra Token has Emerged! Allegations About Argentine President Javier Milei!
It is claimed that an important figure behind the Libra token, Argentine President Javier Milei, influenced his sister Karina Milei's close circle through payments.
The allegations surfaced in text messages reviewed by CoinDesk, adding a new dimension to the ongoing investigation into the controversial memecoin fraud.
It is alleged that Kelsier Ventures CEO Hayden Davis boasted about his dominance over Milei in the short messages he sent in mid-December. Davis, who wrote 'It's under my control', added, 'I send dollars to my sister, and she signs whatever I say and does what I want'.
Karina Milei, a strong figure in her brother's government, did not respond to comment requests, and Davis did not respond to numerous questions. It remains unclear whether any financial transactions took place between Davis and Milei's close circle before the launch of Libra.
Davis's allegations came in the midst of an anti-corruption investigation against President Milei, who launched Libra as a potential tool to finance small businesses in Argentina on February 15th. However, the initial launch of the Solana-based memecoin turned into a disaster, and it was reported that wallets associated with Davis and Kelsier Ventures made over $100 million in profit before the token dropped by over 95%.
The scandal, dubbed 'Cryptogate' by the local media, triggered political turmoil with the threat of opposition leaders calling for Milei's dismissal. According to analysts monitoring the country's cryptocurrency scene, the debate also affected Argentina's stock exchange and pushed the president into damage control mode.
Messages from Davis show that he believes Milei's support on social media could help his projects. Indeed, Milei's introduction of Libra on Twitter helped his rapid rise, but when suspicious transactions emerged, he deleted the post after just five hours, leaving the token to plummet and investors facing significant losses.
