At least 70 people have died in the attack in northwest Syria.

On March 7th, Jinshi data reported that on the 6th local time, the security forces in the northwest of Syria’s Latakia province were attacked by local armed groups. In view of the current security situation, the cities of Latakia and Homs have announced a complete curfew starting from the evening of the 6th. According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the attack has resulted in at least 70 deaths and dozens of injuries. According to the Syrian Arab News Agency, Mustafa Kinwati, head of security in Latakia province, said that this was a ‘carefully planned and premeditated attack’ by local armed groups loyal to the former regime who attacked the security forces’ checkpoint and patrol, causing casualties among the security personnel.
