ChainCatcher news, encryption journalist Eleanor Terrett stated on social media that SEC nominee chair Paul Atkins said he would abandon the previous administration’s harsh enforcement approach: “Industry experience and focused application are needed to ensure that customers and investors benefit from efficient, effective, and well-designed regulation. Our mission at the SEC should be to promote these efforts and use enforcement power when necessary to correct and address willful misconduct.” Regarding digital assets: “My top priority as chair is to work with my committee colleagues and Congress to provide a solid regulatory foundation for digital assets through a reasonable, coherent, and principled approach.”
