Mars Finance reports that, according to the latest GoPlus report, in January 2026, the economic loss caused by major security incidents in Web3 reached $414 million. The types of security incidents include smart contract vulnerabilities, social engineering attacks, phishing attacks, HoneyPot scams, Rugpulls, and others. Among them, Exploits (including contract attacks, social engineering fraud, private key leaks, etc.) accounted for 20 major incidents, resulting in $375 million in losses. The total loss caused by phishing attacks was approximately $20 million, with about 5,000 victims. In that month, 390 new HoneyPot tokens were detected on ETH, Base, and BSC, which is a decrease compared to December.
