Trump's budget proposal of 4.3 trillion submitted to Congress, with national security spending becoming a focal point
Bloomberg quoted a person familiar with the process as saying that U.S. President Trump will submit his annual budget request to Congress on April 3.
Trump is seeking to significantly increase defense spending while continuing to cut the size of domestic agencies. This budget proposal will provide a detailed view of Trump’s spending priorities for his second term.
U.S. presidents typically submit a “skinny budget” in their first year in office, but Trump’s 2025 proposal is even more abbreviated than usual and does not further present a detailed plan that includes economic forecasts. Excluding the budget for the first year of his term, Trump’s 2026 budget release will be the latest since 2013. According to legal requirements, the deadline is the first Monday in February.
