I've been looking at a bunch of projects lately, and I have some thoughts. What the market really lacks might not be a sharper or faster sickle, but rather a place that truly understands “people.”

After so many years in the industry, everyone’s been obsessing over tech, stacking up features, competing to be faster and sharper. But recently I came across @MemeMax_Fi, and it made me pause—it didn’t squeeze down that cutthroat path, but instead turned around and dug into the “human heart.”

What they’re targeting isn’t some technical pain point, but that itch in people’s hearts: Are we really in this market just to make money? Of course not. More often, we want to be seen, remembered, to stand out among all the numbers and candlesticks. When we lose, we want to shout about the pain; when we win, we want to show off; when we get liquidated, we’d love for everyone to turn it into a joke and laugh about it for three days. Trading stopped being just about buying and selling a long time ago—it’s become a social gesture for modern people—just like chatting in teahouses or building threads on forums back in the day, except now we greet each other through buy and sell orders.

Mememax’s approach is pretty interesting. It’s not trying to be another exchange, but rather seems to be turning trading itself into a social network. Placing an order is like posting a tweet; making the leaderboard is like getting a like on your Moments; whether you win or lose, there’s someone to react, to talk to. In the end, “trading – sharing – ranking – earning” becomes a loop, and attention keeps spinning until it turns into value.

Simply put, everyone out there is selling tools, teaching you how to be faster, more accurate, and more ruthless. But they’re selling something different—“social currency,” selling that intangible sense of excitement, attention, and presence that you’re willing to pay for.

That’s a sharp shift in perspective. After three years of tech competition in the industry, maybe it’s time for someone to sit down and talk about that fire in people’s hearts.
