Musk declares "the time has come," Dogecoin lunar mission set to launch in December

Abstract generation in progress

Elon Musk is at it again! This time, it’s not just about posting tweets—Dogecoin really might be going to the moon.

On November 4, Musk dug up an old post from 2021—“SpaceX is going to put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon”—and added three words: “The time has come.” As soon as this news broke, the crypto community went wild.

You might remember, back in 2021, when he tweeted that, DOGE skyrocketed nearly 30% within minutes. A few weeks later, Musk confirmed: it was for real, the project was called the “DOGE-1 Moon Mission,” and payments were accepted strictly in Dogecoin.

This Time, It’s For Real

The mission is led by Canadian company Geometric Energy Corporation and involves launching a CubeSat microsatellite—all paid for with DOGE—on a Falcon 9 rocket.

If successful, this will be the first space project in history paid for entirely with cryptocurrency. The U.S. Federal Communications Commission has already issued a license, valid until October 30, 2025, or two years after the mission’s launch, whichever comes first.

But this time, the market reaction has been much calmer. After the news broke, DOGE only nudged up from $0.172 to $0.178 before dipping back down due to overall selling pressure.

Compared to the frenzy in 2021, the response is clearly more subdued. What does this show? The market has matured—people no longer just follow the big names blindly; they care more about actual value.

From Meme to Real-World Application

The entire crypto market is under pressure right now—BTC has dropped below $106,000, and ETH can’t hold $3,600. But if DOGE-1 really makes it to space, it will mean something different.

This satellite isn’t just for show—it’s got real tasks: Earth observation and IoT data transmission. This means Dogecoin isn’t just a meme anymore; it’s taking part in the real-world value cycle of the physical economy.

SpaceX’s VP of Commercial Sales, Tom Ochinero, put it clearly at the time: “DOGE-1 will demonstrate cryptocurrency application beyond Earth orbit and set up the foundation for interplanetary commerce.”

Things are different now compared to 2021—the technical review’s been passed, the mission process is complete, and the launch window is set for December 2025. What was once a “space meme” four years ago is about to become a reality.

Everyone’s watching the December launch plan. This isn’t just a technical test; it’s a key trial for crypto in real-world applications. Will it succeed? Let’s wait and see.

Damn, are they really serious this time? Is DOGE really going to the moon? Wait, is the launch really happening in December? How come I haven't heard about this? Can it really take off this time? Haha, Elon always knows how to play, here’s another move. DOGE-1 is what they’re talking about, right? I heard about it a long time ago, didn't expect it to happen so soon. Paid entirely with Dogecoin, if this works out, that's just insane.

Damn, here we go again? Is Elon for real this time? Is DOGE really going to the moon or is this just another pump and dump? But honestly, this guy really knows how to hype things up... Anyone can talk big, let's see if he can actually pull it off in December.
