I came across a very insightful article and wanted to share it for mutual encouragement!
Luck really can be contagious between people. Many people complain that they don’t have a benefactor to help them, but having a benefactor requires that person to invest in you. It’s difficult to change your situation just by getting a few casual words of advice from a benefactor. When a benefactor helps someone who is struggling, it means the benefactor is giving some of their own luck to that person. In this way, it's definitely a loss for the benefactor. So generally speaking, apart from one’s own parents or relatives, very few people are willing to pull up someone who is struggling. And as someone hoping for a helping hand from a benefactor, if you still have an ungrateful attitude and act like you’re against the world, how could any benefactor possibly want to help you? Once you enter society, there are no free lunches—everything is an equal exchange. You may see the second generation of wealthy families and think they don’t have to make these equal exchanges, but in fact, it’s only because their parents have already made those exchanges for them.
