Interactive Brokers Enables 24/7 Stablecoin Funding for Global Investors
Source: Coinspaidmedia Original Title: Clients of Interactive Brokers to Fund Brokerage Accounts With Stablecoins Original Link: Interactive Brokers, operating the largest electronic trading platform in the U.S. by number of transactions, announced that clients who meet established criteria can now fund their brokerage accounts using stablecoins.
The new funding method will be available around the clock, including weekends and public holidays, allowing clients to begin trading on 170 international financial markets within minutes of sending digital assets. Initially, Interactive Brokers clients can fund accounts with USDC, with plans to add support for RLUSD and PYUSD stablecoins in the coming weeks.
Clients wishing to fund their accounts with stablecoins will receive dedicated secure wallets, to which assets are transferred from external wallets. Once received, stablecoins are automatically converted into U.S. dollars and credited to the client’s account. Interactive Brokers charges no fee for stablecoin funding, with clients only paying blockchain fees and a conversion fee of 0.3% of the deposit amount (minimum $1).
The initiative aims to remove key limitations of cross-border transfers for international investors. According to the announcement, in many jurisdictions, U.S. dollar bank transfers remain expensive, slow, and dependent on complex chains of correspondent banks. Using stablecoins enables near-instant settlement and lower transaction costs compared to traditional bank transfers, bypassing these barriers.
