Bhutan Authorities to Launch Validator Node on Sei Blockchain
Source: Coinspaidmedia Original Title: Bhutan Authorities to Launch Validator Node on Sei Blockchain Original Link: The Kingdom of Bhutan will become a validator on the Sei blockchain. The country’s sovereign wealth fund will deploy and operate a network node in Q1 2026.
The Sei Development Foundation announced a partnership with Druk Holding and Investments Ltd (DHI), Bhutan’s main sovereign investment fund. As part of the collaboration, the organization will launch a Sei network validator node.
Druk Holding and Investments was established in 2007 and manages stakes in 25 companies operating across key sectors of Bhutan’s economy, from energy and finance to telecoms and real estate. DHI also invests in innovative technologies and digital asset mining, viewing them as a strategic direction for the country’s long-term development.
The project is being implemented by InnoTech, a DHI subsidiary, and is expected to go live in Q1 2026. The initiative is partially funded by Sapien Capital, an investment entity focused on advancing science and innovation within the Sei ecosystem.
Phuntsho Namgay, Head of the DHI Department of Innovation and Technology, stated that the Bhutanese authorities see this initiative as part of the national digital transformation program, aimed at creating a technical foundation for FinTech solutions, data evaluation and monetization, asset tokenization, and the implementation of new economic incentives within the country.
Eleonor Davies, Science and Innovation Lead at the Sei Development Foundation, noted that launching the validator node is intended to build Bhutan’s national competencies in blockchain infrastructure and expand the global Sei validator network.
Sei is a high-performance, EVM-compatible L1 blockchain processing over 4 billion transactions. It ranks first among EVM networks by active users, with over 80 million connected crypto addresses.
Previously, the Sei team signed an agreement with Chinese tech company Xiaomi, whose mobile devices will integrate Sei crypto services.
